Oracle pitches EC over Peoplesoft

Oracle will this week try to reassure the European Commission that its proposed takeover of Peoplesoft will not reduce competition.
Last month the Department of Justice began action to stop the merger, but the case is unlikely to be heard before July. The Commission is due to report on 11 May.
Oracle is offering evidence in support of the takeover this week and there will be closed door hearings on Wednesday and Thursday.
The EC is concerned that the deal would reduce major players in the financial and human resources applications from three to two. It is also worried about possible future collusion between Oracle and SAP, the Big Daddy of the enterprise software market. ®
