BDO Stoy Hayward has been appointed administrator of Paradise Computers. As revealed by El Reg last week the firm got into difficulties following a dispute with HP over trademark infringement and grey importing. In August HP issued a £2.2m High Court writ against the reseller, it has promised to take tougher action over grey imports in the UK.

Shay Bannon and Tony Nygate of BDO Stoy Hayward are overseeing the sale of the firm's assets to try and return money to creditors.

BDO Stoy Hayward issued this statement: "Paradise Computers (UK) Ltd, a computer reseller based in Borehamwood, Herts, ceased trading on Monday 13th September following financial difficulties. The company had a turnover of £42m but had debts of £6m owed to a number of creditors.

The administrators have been appointed to sell off the firm’s assets and recover outstanding debts in the interest of creditors. The company consisted of 46 employees, the majority of whom have found alternative employment."

Paradise Computers was formed in 1990 and had a good trading reputation. It was included in The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 of fastest growing companies.

Paradise Computers' phones are still not being answered at its London or Birmingham offices. ®
