Eclipse punts entry-level 2Mb broadband

Eclipse Internet has unleashed a 2Mbps broadband service for the entry-level price of £14.99 a month.

For that, the Exeter-based ISP is throwing in a one Gigabyte monthly allowance for users; subscribers who exceed the limit can buy additional time online for £1.75 a gig.

Said Eclipse boss Mark Lang: "Similar to the German Autobahn, we have completely eliminated traditional speed restrictions which are incidental for a usage-based service, ensuring users can travel at the fastest possible speed they can."

Last week Kingston Communications-owned Eclipse also went live with its "ROAM public Wi-Fi service", enabling its customers to hook up to broadband on the move.

Following a wholesale deal with BT, Eclipse has gained access to hundreds of wireless broadband hotspots around the country. Unlike other schemes where people have to buy vouchers, punters who use the Eclipse service have their Wi-Fi time added to their monthly bill.

Lang added: "Our new product is designed to complement the BT Openzone infrastructure. Eclipse is one of the first BT Wholesale ISPs to offer the BT Openzone wireless broadband service to its customers." ®
