Microsoft CFO off to join VC firm

More time with family etc.

John Connors, Microsoft's CFO, is leaving the company to join Ignition, a VC firm based near Seattle. According to reports, the 45 year-old works a 55-hour week at Microsoft, and now wants to spend more time with his family.

Connors spent 16 years at Microsoft, the last five as CFO. He's gonna help his bosses find a replacement. They are looking inside and outside the company for candidates.

"I will miss Microsoft a great deal, but it's time for me to move to a new chapter in my life," Connors said. "I'm looking forward to a greater emphasis on community and business participation in the Northwest."

Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's CEO said: "John has done an awesome job building a world-class finance organization for Microsoft and leaves behind him a very capable team." ®
