AOL has acquired Wildseed - the privately held US wireless technologies outfit - for an undisclosed sum.
Based in Kirkland, Washington and with offices in London, Wildseed provides interactive accessories for wireless phones.
It's best known for its SmartSkin interactive accessories which deliver music, ringtones, video clips, pictures, games and screen themes to phones.
Wildseed is to be slipped into AOL's Wireless division to "speed the development and deployment of new applications and solutions that address the wants and needs of consumers and carriers".
Last week AOL acquired US-based storage outfit Xdrive to meet the "skyrocketing" demand from net users to save their music, pictures and video online. ®
