Bulldog lining up 20 meg broadband

Blimey

Bulldog is on the verge of offering a 20 meg broadband service, El Reg has learnt.

The local loop unbundling (LLU) outfit is currently battling to restore its reputation after a torrent of complaints from customers. But it's also keen to extend its broadband offering, according to a reader who contacted the ISP to cancel his service.

He told us: "I called yesterday to cancel my nightmare subscription and they tried to convince me to stay by telling me they are about to announce a 20 meg connection in the next couple of weeks."

Asked to spill the beans on this speed upgrade a spokeswoman for Bulldog refused to comment.

News that Bulldog is planning to accelerate its broadband service speed comes as rival LLU operator "Be" announced plans to pilot its 24 meg service in part of London.

Bulldog is also on tenterhooks amid concerns that Ofcom could launch an investigation into the broadband ISP. A decision on whether officials at Ofcom - who have received hundreds of complaints about the company - will launch an official inquiry could be made as early as this week. ®
