The Pan-European technology integrator and service provider, SCC has been awarded a contract by HM Customs and Revenue (HMRC) it was announced today.

The four-year contract potentially worth up to £560m will be used to support the central government department's eGovernment and efficiency targets. The contract will cover the delivery of supply chain management services across the technology infrastructure for the whole department.

Commenting on the contract award Mark Forth, Commercial Director at HMRC said; “Through this new partnership we will be able to deliver significant cost savings and process improvements. An essential aspect in awarding this contract has been the flexibility and commitment SCC has demonstrated in defining the best way we can work together to deliver real value and efficiencies.”

This award comes on the heels of an announcement that HMRC had finalised a settlement claim for compensation with international IT services company EDS follows problems experienced with the Tax Credits IT system developed by the supplier and implemented for the Inland Revenue in 2003. HMRC will receive an aggregated settlement of £71.25m.
