El Reg launches hardware site

Well 'ard

Published Monday 23rd January 2006 14:27 GMT

Site News The Register has launched a sister publication pitched at the global consumer community of computer enthusiasts and gadget lovers.

Reg Hardware is the new one-stop-shop for hardware product news and reviews, focusing on the best gadgets, components and systems for today's tech-savvy enthusiasts and consumers. The new site can be found at www.reghardware.co.uk.

Combining the authoritative, "take no prisoners" journalism pioneered by The Register with an accessible easy-to-read format, Reg Hardware will keep readers up to date with the coolest toys and tools the converging computing and consumer electronics industries have to offer.

Our extensive up-to-the-minute news coverage will be backed by daily product reviews, round-ups, head-to-heads and buyers' guides, as we follow new, ground-breaking solutions from the lab to the living room.

Reg Hardwareis edited by veteran technology journalist Tony Smith, who's covered hardware for The Register since 1998 and worked on a wide range of other hardware-oriented titles since the late 1980s.

Tony writes: "Hardware has always been a key component of The Register's editorial coverage right from the very start. But, as this past Christmas' sales figures show, not only technology enthusiasts but also mainstream consumers are eager to take part in the so-called digital revolution. Now that we're all early adopters, the time has come for Reg Hardware to bring its up-to-the-minute news and in-depth buyer-focused product reviews to a broader audience of product-hungry purchasers."

Reg Hardware will be first to publish breaking stories and rate products in the following areas:

For commercial enquiries: contact Liam Blackwell, Sales Director 07919 444 944
