BEA Systems has splashed out $87.5m for Fuego, a business process management specialist, in a push into service oriented architectures (SOAs).
Fuego's software will serve as the foundation for BEA's AquaLogic Business Service Integration (http://www.bea.com/framework.jsp?CNT=index.htm&FP=/content/products/aqualogic/business/) suite. This will enable business staff to design, implement and manage business processes in software and to connect to back-end systems using AquaLogic.
Fuego brings on board the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE)- compliant FuegoBPM Process Server. BEA had used an embedded version as the process engine for its AquaLogic Interaction Process product.
Fuego's impressive client list includes BP and JPMorganChase and provides increased opportunities for BEA to cross-sell and upsell other products. BEA has struggled to grow licensing from its software for a year, with services dominating the income mix. ®
