Orange France is offering a new triple play package of broadband, TV and phone for under €30 (£20.50) a month, according to information buzzing around newsgroups and French websites.

The offer of 1 meg broadband, TV and unlimited phone is expected to cost €29.90 a month, while a similar package offering 8 meg broadband is expected to cost €34.90 (£23.85) a month. The offer is limited to the first 50,000 triple play punters.

The offer is part of a giant rebranding exercise that sees France Telecom's Wanadoo internet broadband tossed on the scrapheap and replaced by Orange.

While Orange is due to release details of its rebranding in the UK tomorrow as well, it remains unclear exactly how Orange will pitch its offer. While it might be possible to draw some useful pointers from the Orange France offer, El Reg understands that each country operation is coming up with its own package tailor-made for each market.

In the UK, for example, there's speculation that Orange might offer a "free" broadband package (perhaps tied in with a mobile phone subscription) to rival a similar package put together by the Carphone Warehouse.

But industry sources also claim that Orange will lock people into long contracts possibly as long as two years. ®
