NetSuite seeks ISVs

That last bit, however, is still the stumbling block; the grind of running the business is the part where most small companies stagger and fall, product ideas are dead easy by comparison.

So any developers out there with a good idea but a strong sense of dread at the sheer hassle of running a business might want to look at a vertical implementation of NetSuite's Version 11 system specifically dedicated to the needs of software companies.

This is one of those "ASP Version 2" service offerings, an online service-based approach to running a business. So you don't choose or own the software that runs the business software - they run it for you. And if it doesn't work, it's probably their fault.

According to CEO Zach Nelson, this implementation includes modules specific to the needs of software vendors, such as defect management, product line management and electronic software distribution.

Now, if only I had a good idea for a product... ®
