Ubiquity software has signed a multi-million dollar deal with US firm Global Crossing that will see it become the preferred supplier of Session Initiation Protocol Application Server (SIP A/S) technology for Global Crossing's IP network.
Under the terms of the contract, Ubiquity's technology, an open, standards-based service creation platform, will form the foundation for Global Crossing to develop and deploy a new suite of IP applications and services, including VoIP Interactive Voice Response and VoIP Network Transfer.
The American company said it will also use the SIP A/S and Service Oriented Architecture provided by Ubiquity to migrate legacy applications to its IP platform.
Global Crossing said the deal would allow it to develop its new services quickly, and could provide operational cost savings.
Ubiquity has not released a final value for the deal because licensing is flexible but it should be worth about £12m over five years. ®
