The London Organising Committee (Locog) for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympics Games has selected Accenture to run its back office systems.

The IT consultancy firm will integrate Locog's systems and services to create a platform for the planning of the games across "functional areas". These include finance and accounting, the London 2012 workforce and procurement. The committee said in a statement that the Accenture contract will not cover games time operating systems or the core games management systems that relay results, events, athlete information to spectators and media around the world at games times.

"These IT systems are provided by Atos Origin," the committee said. "Atos is the lead IT system integrator and is responsible for the design, build and operation of the games IT infrastructure." Accenture beat BT Global Services, IBM and CMG to win the contract.
