Abbey online banking takes 24-hour lie downMoney maroonedPublished Wednesday 23rd May 2007 13:13 GMT Abbey, the banking group, has been having problems with its website, which has left customers unable to administer their accounts for more than 24 hours. An Abbey spokeswoman told The Register that the problems were not security-related, and had been caused by maintenance and upgrade work. The bank sent us this statement: We are experiencing a technical problem with our internet banking service today. Customers can access their ebanking service, and with the exception of the 'move money' facility (which allows the transfer of funds between accounts), all other services are available. The firm's technical support line says customers will be "unable to use internet banking". Abbey had no word on when normal service will be resumed. ® 12 comments posted — Comment period finished Crappy as usualPosted: 14:19 23rd May 2007 Since MondayPosted: 15:03 23rd May 2007 Natwest isn't badPosted: 15:37 23rd May 2007 Abbey FailurePosted: 16:10 23rd May 2007 Known issuesPosted: 22:16 23rd May 2007
