Dublin-listed satellite TV and communications equipment firm Vislink has confirmed the acquisition of the US company Focus Communications for $5.5m.
Focus trades as WTS (Western Technical Services) and is based in Orange County, California. The firm specialises in the design and installation of video and data microwave communications, Electronic News Gathering (ENG), Airborne Law Enforcement (ALE), cellular and PCS, satellite, video surveillance, fiber optics and site control systems.
The company currently employs around 20 people and the founders and management team are set to continue in their current roles following the acquisition.
Ian Scott-Gall, chief executive of Vislink, said in a statement: "WTS is an excellent strategic addition to our US business. The acquisition will accelerate our move into the US technical services market and we are delighted to welcome WTS and all its employees to the group."
"Western Technical Services is excited about joining the Vislink family," said WTS president Christopher Gibbons in a statement. "This acquisition will allow us to provide greater service for our customers."
Goodbody Stockbrokers expects that the deal will be earnings enhancing for Vislink in the current year. The acquisition is in line with the company's strategy of strengthening its defence, law enforcement and security division in the US. Goodbody estimates this division accounts for approximately 10 per cent of the group's revenues.
