Discovery expands mobile offering

Meerkats on mobile

Discovery Channel has launched mobile phone-friendly versions of two more TV channels, Discovery Turbo and Animal Planet, so you'll be able to get your fix of Meerkat Manor wherever you are.

The services are available to Vodafone and Orange users, as well as through the Sky Mobile service, and will feature made-for-mobile content, including behind-the-scenes footage.

Both channels are unicast and on-demand, streamed over the 3G network rather than relying on new technology enabling broadcast services, such as DVB-H or similar. The content is also packaged into one hour blocks, updated daily, making it suitable for on-demand delivery.

Male viewers in particular might want to avoid exclaiming at the cuteness of the Whiskers family in public, and best stick to Discovery Turbo if they want to maintain their image. ®
