Apple has begun recruiting staff to run its first Australian Apple Store, currently being kitted out in Sydney's central George Street. It's also looking for workers for new stores in the UK in Exeter, Milton Keynes, Glasgow, Reading and Brighton.

The Mac maker's website currently lists a range of key posts for the Sydney store, including Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Inventory Controllers and Cashiers. It's also looking for Mac Geniuses to run the shop's tech support section.

To date, Apple Australia has confirmed only that it's planning to open a store in Sydney, having submitted its planning proposal to the Sydney city council in February this year. The store is situated on the corner of George Street and King Street.

Apple has been claimed to be looking at a site on the corner of Toorak Road and Chapel Street in South Yarra, Melbourne for its second store, but Apple has yet to go public on the plan, and its Australia recruitment site doesn't list any vacancies in the state of Victoria, only for the New South Wales facility.

Apple's Apple Store line-up runs to over 150 outlets in the US, nine in the UK, eight in Japan, four in Canada and a single store in Rome, Italy.

Apple UK is currently recruiting staff for new stores in Milton Keynes Central shopping mall; Solihull; Exeter's soon-to-be-completed Princesshay centre; Brighton's Church Hill Square; Reading's The Oracle site; Glasgow's Buchanan Street; and Essex's Lakeside shopping centre.
