Oracle has come a step closer to releasing the next version of its popular Java integrated development environment (IDE), by posting (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/11/index.html) a second technology preview.
The JDeveloper 11g preview is a significant update to the first, released this spring, as Oracle claimed it would let developers migrate applications they've built using the current version of its IDE - version 10.1.3.
This latest technology preview has been released by Oracle with a view to getting feedback from developers and ironing out bugs and features. While there's still no official word on JDeveloper 11g, the database giant's IDE is expected next year.
JDeveloper 11g is expected to feature (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/11tp/readme.html?_template=/ocom/print) improved data binding and application server integration, Ant debugger support and improved JUnit 4.0 support. JDeveloper 11g should also serve as the development tools for Oracle's Fusion-branded suite of applications and middleware. That will mean more use of JavaServer Faces (JSF) components for things like AJAX to "web 2.0 enable" applications, such as the next release of Oracle's customer relationship management (CRM).®
