SAP has snaffled up Indian rules management vendor Yasu Technologies, its second acquisition in a week.
The ERP giant said it would embed Hyderabad-based Yasu’s technology into its Netweaver platform. SAP reckons this will make it easier for its customers to ensure they’re complying with regulatory requirements, as well as making their businesses more efficient.
Yasu was founded in 1999 and has 120 employees. The companies did not say how much the deal is worth, but it’s fair to assume the cheque wasn’t as big as the one SAP is writing to take over French BI vendor Business Objects (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/10/08/sap_buys_business_objects/).
When SAP announced the BO deal last week, it was seen as a rare deviation from its habit of developing all its technology in-house. Making a second buy in a week may suggest it is following its rival Oracle in opting to expand its technology by buying-in.
Meanwhile, SAP has introduced an Enterprise Architect Certification Program. The vendor says the new cert will offer "role-base training and skill development". There will be three levels – Associate, Professional and Master. ®
The Yasu buy and the new certification program were announced as the vendor kicked off its TechEd conference in Munich today.®
