Why the heck would you need a separate "back end" to Visual Studio to target Mono? Isn't the main goal of Mono to allow you to run .NET applications unmodified on a non-Windows platform? what what?By Anonymous Coward

Embedded developers have been using Visual Studio for non MS OS embedded platforms for many years, e.g. Phar Lap ETS. Phar Lap ETS has a tool chain that integrates into Visual Studio. As MS says its the SDK rules that have now changed. The period for commenting on this story has finished
