Last night saw the awards ceremony for the IT Volunteer of 2007 at the Information Technologists' Company's Hall in the City of London.

The awards are to celebrate achievements by individual volunteers and the projects they help run within UK charities.

Best IT Volunteer was Gary Axford. He was chosen for running training courses at both the Riverside Centre and on an outreach bus. In the last year he has trained over 500 people with learning difficulties or physical handicaps.

The award for Best Impact went to 1Voice which supports children who cannot speak. The project hosted networking events for parents and families of the children, as well as using improvements to the website and mailing lists to help the families support each other.

John Davies, programme director of iT4C said: “We would like to congratulate all the winners and to thank all the entrants for their dedication and hard work in the field of volunteering. It was great to see how many people are giving their time and talent to IT related projects.
