A High Court judge described Kirsty Wark's husband Alan Clements as a dishonourable snoop yesterday and ruled against his case for constructive dismissal.

Clements wanted to move from TV production company RDF to Scottish Media Group, which RDF claimed was in breach of his non-compete agreement. He asked Newsnight presenter Wark's secretary to access a former colleague's email inbox to find out what was being said about him within the company.

In his summing up, the judge said: "He must have known it was neither fair play nor honourable.

"I find it more than a little surprising that he should have snooped into the private correspondence of a close colleague and friend," The Scotsman reports.

Clements told the paper he would appeal the decision and that he regretted snooping on his colleague's emails.
