A Kiwi cybersquatter has recanted his domain hostage-taking after a Bible-powered epiphany taught him the error of his ways.

Jeff Twigge, of Palmerston North*, North Island, used to see himself as a Robin Hood figure, ransoming domains and donating the proceeds to charity. But now he's issued a public apology for his misdeeds, The Manawatu Standard reports.

A committed Christian, Twigge recently took it upon himself to register www.ozjet.co.nz immediately after Australian charter carrier Oz Jet said it would start running flights via Palmerston North. He then demanded NZ$5,000 from the firm to hand over the domain. When they refused, he asked them to fly a terminally ill child and family to Dreamworld, an Aussie resort.

When later perusing chapter six of Corinthians, he was dismayed that "extortioners" are among the people who cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven™, even if they donate the cash to a good cause.

An ashamed Twigge said: "This all blew up last week. I'm a Christian, but I probably haven't walked the walk. I screwed up."

We thought the Bible was all about charity and stuff? Dammit, someone get Dot Cotton on the blower to sort this one out ASAP. ®
