Columbia Pictures has asked The Office co-executive producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky to work up a script for a third outing of Ghostbusters, Variety reports.
The plan is apparently to reunite original cast Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis for the project. The latter has just directed comedy Year One - penned by Eisenberg and Stupnitsky - and Variety cites this relationship as "evidence that the ghost chasers have sparked to the idea of returning".
The first two Ghostbusters movies were released in 1984 and 1989, respectively. The original cinematic outing was Columbia's highest grossing film ever, until overtaken by Men in Black and subsequently Spider-Man. ®
